I have a firm belief when it comes to gifting: birthdays are for one or two larger presents, and Christmas is for a hundred little bits and pieces.
I’m not sure if it’s because I love the look of a pile of presents underneath my Christmas tree, or if it’s due to the fact that my birthday is in late November and so I don’t really want nor need anything by the time December 25th rolls around, but I just really love giving my loved ones a bunch of smaller gifts.
And there’s so many possibilities, too! It could be as simple as picking up a beautiful mug and an array of herbal tea for your grandmother or buying your sister a bunch of drugstore makeup bits to fill up her makeup bag. Even the smallest of gifts are so appreciated.
I know a lot of people joke about receiving socks and hand cream this time of year, but I bloody love socks and hand cream. Perhaps that’s just me…
This is where the Christmas stocking comes in. My dad was very fond of stockings and stocking stuffers when I was a child, and so I think I’ve inherited that from him. There’s nothing I love more than seeing a full stocking on Christmas morning. It’s so magical and exciting and wonderful, and while I know Christmas isn’t at all about the presents, it is really nice to give and receive them.
And so here is my 2017 Stocking Stuffer Gift Guide. I’ve tried to include a bunch of things for a range of different people, and most [if not all] of these bits are under $20! Spoiling your loved ones does not have to break the bank, especially if you utilise the magic of the stocking stuffer.
First things first, tea is always always always a fab gift at Christmas, and the Bluebird Tea Company have an amazing range out this year that’s perfect for the stocking. The Christmas Cake tea bauble would be such a wonderful gift to receive, as would a gift tube of their award winning Gingerbread Chai. If you wanted to be a little more earth conscious, you could grab the same blends in a loose leaf refillable tin, and chuck in a Perfect Tea Spoon while you’re there to ensure every cup is eco-friendly perfection. *GREYTEABIRD24 WILL GET YOU 20% OFF AT WWW.BIRDANDBLENDTEA.COM*
T2 also have a brilliant Christmas range out this year, and I can think of nothing better than starting Christmas day with a pot of their Christmas Breakfast. It tastes like gingerbread spice and all things nice and you’ll want to share this brew with your entire family! While this particular blend comes in handy tea bags, you could also pick up their gorgeous Leaf Strainer. It makes brewing loose leaf tea ridiculously easy while making every cup feel like beautiful luxury.
On to beauty and skincare, I firmly believe that you cannot go wrong with lip balm. I’m one of those people that owns twenty different types, but I always find myself coming back to the Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean Lip Balm. It’s so smooth and balmy [???] and makes my lips feel super soft. I’m also a major fan of anything vanilla scented, and this particular one smells like vanilla cake. Can you say yum?!
Speaking of vanilla, The Body Shop’s Christmas range has me so excited this year. I’m yet to meet anyone that doesn’t need hand cream as it’s often the most neglected part of our skin, which is crazy when you think about everything we subject our poor hands to. The Vanilla Chai Hand Cream is an essential in any beauty buffs stocking this year, and the recipient will be forever grateful for the gift of soft hands!
The Body Shop also have this adorable gift set of Festive Soaps that I absolutely love. The vanilla chai is [of course] my favourite of the three, but the frosted plum is a close second.
Another gift that is guaranteed to give the recipient super soft hands is the Glasshouse Fragrances Christmas Bon Bon. Inside the adorable packaging is a freshly scented hand cream that’s enriched with shea butter and argan oil. It’s perfect for those who aren’t really in to sweet scents, and I find this one almost masculine, which means it’s the perfect unisex stocking stuffer.
I’ve talked about this cleanser a little on my instagram, but the Buche de Noel Face Cleanser by LUSH is one of the best out there. It’s made with almonds and cranberries and brandy and helps to clear up any active breakouts. It also gives your skin a healthy glow, which is why I love it so much.
Until recently, I didn’t even know what hyaluronic acid was. But then The Ordinary by Deciem exploded all over the internet, and now I cannot live without it. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid helps your skin retain and attract moisture, which means more hydration, which in turn means less breakouts and reduced signs of aging. I call this stuff botox in a bottle because it really does plump the skin and smooth out lines.
And, if all else fails, you can give the gift of bright under eyes. The Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is a cult classic product that helps soothe and smooth the under eye area. I’ve got really sensitive skin and it works a treat for me, so I think it’s super stocking friendly. Eye cream is also something that most people forget to buy for themselves, so you’re doing the recipient a massive favour and reminding them to take care of their skin!
Up next is food related gifts. I prefer to save a lot of these for the Christmas Eve Box [a blog post on which is coming soon!] as there is normally quite a bit of eating on Christmas day, but you cannot go past some shortbread and a cheeky bitta alcohol. I love the Christmas Tree Gift Box by Walkers, and the Bailey’s Mini Gift Pack is a stocking stuffer essential for any liqueur lover. Boyfriend/dad/uncle not a Bailey’s kinda guy? The Patron XO Cafe Mini is beyond adorable, as is the Royal Salute 21 Year Old Scotch Whisky.
I consider myself quite the candle connoisseur, so I know nothing would excite me more than receiving a candlette in my stocking. The Sohum Christmas Gingerbread Candlette is the perfect festive stocking stuffer, and if you’re after something a little more year-round, you cannot go past Glasshouse Fragrances Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Mini. It’s triple scented, which means the scent throw is strong enough to cover an entire room, but it’s still small enough that it doesn’t take up much space.
On to books, I truly believe there is nothing more magical than curling up in bed after a long and exciting Christmas day with a festive novel in hand [gingerbread and hot chocolate optional]. Three of my favourite Christmas themed novels are The Mistletoe Murder, Let It Snow and My True Love Gave To Me. Their covers are so festive and you’re guaranteed to end Christmas in the best possible way by reading one [or all] of these books!
And, finally, a few random stocking stuffers to throw in are some mini metal stars which I believe are perfect for year round decorating, but are also fab added to keys and handbags as a bit of extra bling. Speaking of keys, this Leather Key Ring is the best way to jazz up your key chain. To make it even more special, you can always get it engraved with the recipients initials. Invisibobbles are great for those with long hair, and a beautiful Gemstone Phone Case is perfect for any social media aficionados. This Copper Monogram Bottle Stopper is fab for the home entertainer, and, because I cannot possibly finish this post without mentioning them, I’m sure anyone within their right mind would love a pair of festive socks in their stocking on Christmas day.
What are your favourite stocking stuffers to give and receive?
