Salted caramel has become the festive flavour of the past few years, and I for one am not complaining.
The sharp taste of salt paired with the smooth, buttery sweetness of caramel is what most would consider a match made in heaven, and so it should be no surprise that Baileys have joined in on this worldwide flavour addiction.
I had my first sip of Salted Caramel Baileys almost two years ago now, and each November since have been rushing to my local bottle shop to stock up on bottle after bottle. This dream liqueur sells out like clockwork by the time December rolls around, so we make sure to get in quick to avoid missing out.
I’ve been dreaming of creating a simple cocktail with this stuff for so long now, and I finally have! I’m not down for cocktails that require 3948572897 ingredients – I’d rather go out and order them at a bar or restaurant – so I have made them reaaal easy to create, but these Salted Caramel Baileys cocktails are so lush that you won’t even mind cleaning your bar tools after drinking them.
SALTED CARAMEL BAILEYS COCKTAILS
3 shots Salted Caramel Baileys
1 cup ice
1 tbsp salted caramel sauce plus 1 tbsp and 1 tsp for decorating the glass
2 tbsp flaked sea salt
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup almond milk
Prepare your glasses by drizzling/smearing the 1 tbsp of salted caramel sauce around the inside of them.
Place the 1 tsp of salted caramel sauce on a flat surface, and then roll the mouth of the glass in it. Do the same with the flaked sea salt, ensuring the entire mouth is covered in caramel and salt.
In a cocktail shaker, add the ice, Salted Caramel Baileys, vanilla extract, almond milk and leftover caramel sauce. Secure the lid tightly, and shake well for around 30-40 seconds.
Pour the drink into your glasses and serve! You can always add extra garnish [think chocolate flakes, toffee snaps or coconut] and I also think these cocktails would also be fab if you added some other flavours in [like white chocolate, dark chocolate or coffee].
Are you going to give my simple Salted Caramel Cocktails a go? Extensive research on my part has proven that they are the perfect accompaniment to a cosy evening in front of the TV. Horror film and cosy pjs optional, but heavily recommended.
