DIY Hot Chocolate Bar

DIY Hot Chocolate Bar

If there’s two things I love this time of year, it’s hot chocolate and festive interiors.

So I figured – why not combine the two? I’ve been seeing hot chocolate bars all over Pinterest for years now, and while people generally have them at parties [which is so fun] I thought it would be a brilliant idea to put one in my kitchen!

I drink multiple cups of hot chocolate throughout December, so it makes sense to have all of the ingredients out and on display at all times. Plus, it looks so cute and Christmassy!

Here’s how I made my DIY Hot Chocolate Bar. This is only a guide, really, so feel free to get creative and style your own masterpiece. I’d love to see what you come up with!

I put my hot chocolate bar in a corner nook so I could style it around a certain focal point. I love the look of the mini Christmas tree – I later strung it with copper wire lights, which made it look all the more festive.

I used a bunch of jars to store and display my ingredients, which include hot chocolate powder, marshmallows, toffee pieces, chopped peanuts, candy canes, salted caramel syrup, shaved chocolate and Lindt balls. Other ingredients you could have out are Baileys, coffee creamer, peppermint syrup, sprinkles, ground cinnamon, sea salt, dark chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, wafer sticks and vanilla syrup. By offering a range of different mixtures, the combinations and flavours are endless. My favourite [unintentional] concoction so far has been a Snickers hot chocolate a.k.a. chocolatey peanut heaven.

I also used my snowman cookie jar to keep some assorted cookies in – because no hot chocolate is complete without a cookie or two. Instead of storing cookies in the jar, however, you could put little chocolate bars or pretzels or something else snacky to serve on the side of the drink.

I then placed a bunch of festive mugs around by way of invitation. Kind of like ‘come in, make yourself a drink and cosy up’.

I’ve also seen other people using letterboards or chalkboards to create cute and festive little slogans – which is an especially fab idea if you are having a Christmas party at your house. It just makes people feel more comfortable in fixing themselves a drink if there is a literal invitation written in chalk to do so.

As for storing, just make sure you put lids on all the ingredients once you’re done, and you’re guaranteed to have the most magical hot chocolate experience all December long.

this is so darn CUTE! i’ll have to suggest this for a holiday party (if we’re having a holiday party) with my bf! and oooh, anything with mason jars is a plus for me – i literally store EVERYTHING in mason jars from coffee and sugar to my painting supplies LOL. even tried putting my plants in them once, unfortunately while it looked cool seeing the soil from the side, it started growing some not-so-cool looking algae because of the sun.
