Trying Out K-Beauty

Trying Out K-Beauty

Although I would say that I have almost perfected both my morning and evening skincare routines, I’m always open to trying new things.

Science is constantly evolving which means that people are discovering new ingredients all the time, so it makes sense to keep an open mind when it comes to the products you use.

K-Beauty is something I’ve heard incredible things about, but I never really knew where to begin with it all. For those who aren’t in the know, K-Beauty is an umbrella term given to a variety of skincare and beauty products created in Korea. The main priority of K-Beauty is super healthy, super hydrated skin, and so it should be obvious that I believe it’s something we all need to invest more in.

For years it’s been about harsh skin treatments and peels {anyone else immediately think of Samantha from SATC?}, but if you’re lifting impurities, oil and dead skin from your epidermis, you kinda should be replacing it with lots of moisture and nourishment. Right?!

I mean, it’s probably obvious – but K-Beauty is major – there are hundreds and hundreds of products that exist for all types of ailments. And because there are so many products out there, it can sometimes be a little intimidating to know where to begin and how much to spend, but overall I think it’s something we should all try.

Wishtrend recently reached out to me asking if I’d like to try a couple of their products {which is still such a surreal experience!} and I’m going to be totally transparent and say that I had never heard of Wishtrend before their lovely email popped up in my inbox…

…but guys – I’m so glad it did.

Wishtrend is basically a superstore of K-Beauty. They stock all of the well known K-Beauty brands, while at the same time selling products from hidden brands. Their focus is always always always on quality, but they pride themselves on offering the best price for the products they sell. Which is kinda fab.

Did I mention that they sell more than just skincare? Hair care, makeup and body care are also offered on the platform, as well as accessories like konjac sponges and silicone foundation blenders. All for super low prices.

I was given the option of trying a couple of their products, and as we know I’m a skincare freak, I opted to go for a couple of products that I could add in to my routine without having to subtract any of the products I already use.

The first product I went for was the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

I am a firm believer in the power of double cleansing, but sometimes I find my skin needs even more than that. My typical cleansing routine is micellar water on a cotton round, followed by a gentle exfoliating cleanser, but when I’m wearing makeup I really need an oil based cleanse before I touch the micellar. This is where the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil has stepped in and saved my life. It’s made from black bean, black sesame and black currant oils and is a gentle yet effective way to remove your makeup. This is my first time using an oil based cleanser, and I’m so happy with how well it takes everything off while leaving my skin super soft at the same time. The only negative thing I would have to say about this cleanser is that it sometimes clings to my lashes a little too well for my liking, but one sweep of micellar seems to do the trick. I’d recommend this cleanser for anyone who wears heavy makeup and loves a double {or triple!} cleanse. Buy yours here.

The next thing I picked up from Wishtrend were the Natural Vitamin Enhancing Sheet Masks.

As soon as I received the package on my doorstep, I immediately took off my makeup using the method above and popped one of these bad boys on. It’s basically a sheet mask containing green tea, vitamin c and vitamin e that aims to improve the hydration levels and complexion of your skin. After the first use I wasn’t too impressed, but after doing a little more research I realised that you need to exfoliate your skin prior to using this mask. Once I had exfoliated and dried my face, I popped this mask on for about 30 minutes. After I had removed the sheet and massaged the remaining product into my face and neck, I was actually shocked. My skin was beyond smooth – I liken it to the feel of silk – glowy af, super bouncy, and within days most of my spots had disappeared. I now call this mask ‘the miracle mask’, and am saving my last three for when my skin feels like being a real pain in the ass. If you’re going to grab anything new with your pay check this week, I’d really recommend a ten pack of these masks – you can thank me later. Buy yours here.

I hope you guys enjoyed this little peek into K-Beauty! Make sure to let me know in the comments below if you’d like to see more products like these on the blog. I’m thinking it might be fun to do a little series where I try a few new K-Beauty bits each time – maybe next I’ll write a review on this shampoo and conditioner set? LMK!

Psssst! Wishtrend have also given me a link that’ll get you guys free shipping if you wish to place an order, so click here if you want to take advantage of that!
