It’s summer here right now, which means the focus is of course on healthy, glowing skin, however I think that gorgeous skin should be a priority for any season. Why wait for a certain season to have the complexion of your dreams?
And, it’s always a win/win when I find beauty products I love that are made by Australian brands. I feel like Australian brands really understand what the weather is like on our patch of land – they know how brutal the sun is, and they know the way our skin reacts to the environment. The dust, the sun, the sand and the salt all contribute to the way our skin looks, after all, so using products that are built to withstand those elements and repair the damage caused by them is always going to be something I prioritise.
Here are the products I’m using and loving right now that are helping me look (and feel!) like a slippery smooth bottlenose dolphin, even when it’s dry as a bone and stupidly hot outside.
Exfoliation is super important no matter the season, and I’ve been using two products in particular that are perfect for ridding your face and body of any excess dead skin and impurities. The Milk & Co Beauty Wipes are basically a makeup wipe, but reinvented – they have these little stitches in them that act like microbeads (without damaging the ocean) and they’re so helpful for giving your face that little bit deeper of a clean when you’re in a pinch. I’ve been using these post-gym to really get into my pores and clean out the grime that begins to accumulate there after an hour of working out, however I also find them fab for after the beach when you want to clear the sunscreen out of your pores without properly cleaning your face. They come in a pack of 25 for a tenner, so I don’t think you can really go wrong with them!
Now for my body, I’ve been using the Milk & Co Body Scrub. It’s a gentler formula than most body scrubs, and I’ve found it absolutely incredible to use if I’ve been out in the sun a little too long. It contains rosehip oil AND turmeric, which are both fab if you’ve got any sort of skin irritation. They’ll calm down the surface inflammation while restoring your skin’s natural moisture at the same time.
After removing all of the dead skin on your body, it’s obviously super important to restore your skin’s moisture levels, which is why I’m also loving the Milk & Co Body Oil. It comes in this chic little bottle that looks so beautiful on my vanity, and it’s both inoffensive and gentle enough that it doesn’t stress out my sensitive skin – obviously v important. I also love that it doesn’t leave my skin sticky and doesn’t have any colour profile – basically it doesn’t stain my expensive sheets!
Now, in terms of beauty products that are perf for gorgeous glowing skin, I’ve been trying out some more natural makeup products lately, and I just knew that you guys would be as into them as I am.
The Luma Beauty Multi-Purpose Balm has been a great little addition to my lip-care collection. It’s obviously just your standard balm, except it’s full of fab ingredients that you can feel good about putting on your lips and/or other parts of your face and body. So far I’ve utilised its moisturising powers for my cuticles, scrapes on my body from the gym, scratches and cuts on my legs from my cats (lol) and one particularly dry area on my chest that was v. irritating for a few days, but I do mainly use it on my lips. It’s a fab little handbag staple for any season.
I’m always a fan of highlight as you guys know, and I do like my makeup to look as natural as possible – especially when I’m planning on going to the gym and beach within the same day. The Luma Beauty On The Go Highlighter Stick has been in my purse since the day it arrived, and I love gliding it across the high points of my face whenever I feel like I need a little more of a glow. I have the shade Cashmere Casbah, which is ideal for my always-a-little-too-pink complexion. It warms my face up a bit and makes me look *way* less flustered, even on the hottest of days.
Finally, the one thing that everyone needs when trying to achieve a gorgeous, glowy look is an eyebrow tamer. I shared my favourite eyebrow pencil on the blog recently, however on days where I’m not doing a full brow look, I love to use the Luma Beauty Brow Gel to make my brows look a little more ‘done’. I use the clear one, however they do sell formulas for different hair colours, and you can utilise these even on your most made-up days. They’re basically just a fab way to keep your brows in place throughout the day – which is especially important when it’s crazy hot outside and you’re at risk of wearing them on your chin.
I hope you enjoyed reading about the products I’m using to keep my skin looking and feeling incredible this season. Do you have any products to recommend? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
