Evening Skincare Favourites

No matter if it’s morning, noon, or night – taking care of your skin is number one.

With that said – there is something more… imperative? about evening skincare.

They say that your body heals and regenerates while you sleep, so it makes sense that evening skincare is more important, especially if it can aid that healing process.

Whether you deal with dry skin, acne, or aging – there’s a lotion or potion that exists to address your skin concerns while you sleep.

It’s no secret by now that I am a skincare addict – I could honestly talk about it all day – and while my collection is somewhat small, I am still so so passionate about taking care of my skin with the right products and practices.

A few of you have told me that you love when I chat skincare, so I thought I would share my evening skincare favourites with you guys.

Obviously everyone is different – I happen to have combination skin but am prone to hormonal and cystic acne and dry patches.

We all have different skin concerns, so keep that in mind before making a purchase, but I’m comfortable saying that most {if not all} of these products are fab for every skin type – and I’m sure other reviews online can confirm that too.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid | Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil | Sukin Pore Refining Facial Scrub | Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment | Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

First things first: a good exfoliator. I recently picked up the Sukin Pore Refining Facial Scrub because I was looking for a gentle scrub, and the fact that this particular product is made with charcoal is a huge plus for me. I wouldn’t say this product is excessively exfoliating – it’s definitely gentle – but that’s exactly what my skin needs. As you’ll see soon – I mainly use acids and peels to exfoliate my skin – but sometimes my skin still needs a little bit of a prod in the right direction, and so this scrub is perfect for that. I usually apply a small amount of product to my skin after I’ve been in a hot shower for ten minutes or so and rub it around in small circles, focusing mainly on my t-zone. The charcoal in this product paired with the pore-opening power of steam helps to clear out impurities and blackheads, and the jojoba beads slough off any remaining dead skin. I normally notice that breakouts surface and clear themselves up quickly after using this scrub – which is always a plus {any product that accelerates the life cycle of a blemish is a plus for me! Get that sh*t outta here!}

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid | Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil | Sukin Pore Refining Facial Scrub | Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment | Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Up next is an evening-only product, and also something I’ve used every single day since I received it. The Luna Sleeping Night Oil by Sunday Riley is an oh-so-instagrammable retinoid {a.k.a. anti-aging} oil intended to help you achieve smooth, flawless skin overnight. What’s funny about this is the first few times I used it – my skin did not feel different at all. But I know with skincare products especially – you need to use them for a couple of weeks before you can expect to see and feel any results, which was definitely the case for me. Before I started using Luna I used to get disgustingly oily skin by midday, but after about three weeks of consistent use, my skin has regulated it’s oil production and in turn I have not had a massive, under the skin spot since. As for anti-aging, I haven’t really paid enough attention to comment on that, but I will say that my skin feels healthier after each use. I apply this product after I’ve cleansed and gently dried my skin, and then I allow it to sink in for ten minutes or so and allow it to work its magic until I apply my next product.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid | Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil | Sukin Pore Refining Facial Scrub | Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment | Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Next is The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. I’ve chatted a little bit about this product before, so it should be of no surprise that this makes its way into my evening skincare favourites. It’s basically a hydration binder in a bottle – in that once this product settles into your skin it helps it to hold any external moisture you add to it. This includes oils, serums, moisturisers and mists, and my skin has completely changed since I started using it. It’s brighter, plumper and softer, and also bouncier? This product is a must have {and so affordable!}

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid | Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil | Sukin Pore Refining Facial Scrub | Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment | Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Another Sunday Riley product that is an evening skincare favourite is the Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment. This is one of those previously mentioned acids/peels that I use to exfoliate my skin. My friend/beauty guru Bailey {who has gorg skin} has long been warning me against using scrubs on my face as they’re more trouble than they’re worth – causing micro tears and accelerating signs of aging – and so she was the one who really introduced me to the idea of chemical peels and exfoliants. I’ve not looked back since, and I find that this lactic acid is enough to slough off *most * of the dead skin my face accumulates over time. The only downside of this is that it smells beyond bizarre, but the way it makes my skin feel come morning makes it all worth it.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid | Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil | Sukin Pore Refining Facial Scrub | Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment | Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

The last of my evening skincare favourites is a cult classic that is so worthy of it’s reputation. The Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is a thick, luxurious cream that hydrates the under eye area while brightening the skin. It’s such a thick product that at first I was worried it would migrate into my eyes and cause me a bit of discomfort, but I haven’t experienced any of those issues – even after a solid five minutes of violently itching and rubbing my eyes because I forgot to wear my glasses {eeek!}. I can’t say much about the smell – except that it smells like avocado oil – which isn’t exactly the best scent in the world… but it’s not offensive, so that’s a plus. What I will say is that this cream is perfect for the evening due to how thick it is, and I have noticed my under eye lines aren’t as deep when I wake up in the morning. I also really like applying it as part of my morning skincare routine because it’s kind of like an under eye primer? My concealer and foundation sit so much better underneath my eyes because the skin is silky and smooth, but I mainly love using it at night. It’s basically a guarantee I’ll wake up looking fresh if I use this eye cream before bed.

    This is such a lovely post – I love seeing people’s skincare products and routines and there really is nothing better than coming home after a long day and removing all your make-up and pampering your skin with lovely products!

    Love this and there’s so much I want to add to my products as I like switching things up depending on my skin’s mood, the weather etc…

    Love it!
