Current Favourites

It’s been a while since I’ve compiled a favourites post, and I’ve fallen in love with so many different things lately, so it’s about time I shared them all with you!

The first thing I’m loving right now is podcasts. I recently wrote this post sharing a few of my favourites, but since then have discovered even more that I’m obsessed with! Someone Knows Something by CBC radio is epic investigative journalism, and I listened to both seasons in a matter of days! It’s true crime related, but not super gory or violent, as it focuses predominately on cold cases – one per season. You really get to know the ins and outs of the case, and it becomes a somewhat addiction to learn more about what happened to these people. I really recommend this one if you like mystery – just be aware it’s emotionally heavy at times.

Another podcast that I’ve been loving lately is Casefile, which is actually an Australian true crime podcast. Be warned that this one is intense. 911 calls and Police interrogation audio; the gruff voiced narrator repeating the words of murderers and criminals in his strong Australian accent… it’s a lot. But it covers a lot of little known crimes (at least to me) and the research undertaken for each episode is second to none. I don’t know if I’d recommend this one to a true crime newbie, but maybe if you’re a little more seasoned, you should give it a go.

Current Favourites - A Girl & Grey

I know Easter has come and gone, but I still cannot get enough of all the Easter tea sitting front and centre of my tea cupboard. Hot Cross Buns, Carrot Cake, Easter Egg Nests – you’ll always feel Eastery while sipping on these gorgeous brews! I wrote a post last week sharing my favourite brands and blends, so make sure to check it out!

If you’re a Fast and Furious fan like me, you would have made your way to the nearest cinema last week to watch its final instalment The Fate of the Furious. I don’t really know what to say about it apart from the fact that I absolutely loved it, thought the story was brilliant, and am sad to see it go! I was expecting Brian to appear in the film at least once, but perhaps leaving that character to rest was the best decision in the producers eyes. The scripting in this film was much better than the last – something that I didn’t really notice until I walked out of the cinema. Much less… cheesy, I guess? I’m not really sure, but you really can’t fault them – it’s such a great story!

Storm and Grace by Kathryn Heyman

I’ve been in a major reading slump this year, having only completed two books. I’m half way through about a dozen though, and Storm and Grace is the one that I keep coming back to. It’s brilliant and poetic and dark and tantalising and by page 250 I think I know what’s going to happen but I’m still sort of unsure. I definitely recommend picking this up if you enjoy popular adult fiction. It’s easy to read and the female protagonist is relatable enough for you to see yourself in her. Once I’ve finished it I’ll write a full review, so keep an eye out!

Current Favourites - A Girl & Grey

I recently became a brand representative for The Wooden Wick and so was lucky enough to receive a bunch of beautiful candles in the mail to feature in both my blog and Instagram photos. The Lychee Peony scent is something I was unsure of at first, but since smelling and lighting it have fallen in love. It’s the perfect living room scent, but I actually have mine in the main bathroom next to my huge bath – so that when I’m in the mood for a soak I can sit and watch the wooden wick crackle away. The Vanilla scent is gorgeous too – and Harry actually stole that one for his office – that’s how good it is!

Current Beauty Favourites - A Girl & Grey

I’ve been trying out a lot of new beauty products lately and I’m actually happy with every single one of them! If you read my Lush Haul you’ll know that I picked up a bunch of stuff – all of which I love – but the Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub is working some serious wonders on my hair! It’s more lifted at the roots, stays bouncy for days, and even looks blonder (if possible)! Shoutout to Zac from North Lakes for hooking me up with my new favourite hair product!

I bought the Zoella Sweet Inspirations Body Mist a few months ago and am sad to say that it’s almost all gone! Even though I own a ridiculous amount of fragrances, I find this macaron-scented mist is my go-to every day of the week! I love sweet scents, and who doesn’t want to smell like my favourite French dessert?

I, along with most of the world I’m sure, saw the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion on Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat and knew it was a must-have. Aside from being super affordable, I actually love this pink, smelly lotion! I find if I dab it on a blemish before bed, the spot is less angry looking by morning and waaaay less painful. Just make sure you wash it off before interacting with anyone! I opened the door to the postman this morning with it all over my face and I can promise you that he got quite a fright!

The Honey I Washed The Kids Soap is a firm favourite in our house, so of course I had to mention it in this post! It makes showering, bathing and hand-washing much more enjoyable, and the gorgeous scent lingers on your skin all day! If Lush could make a candle with this fragrance, or maybe even a perfume, I’d be a very happy girl!

Now I purchased the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil on a particularly bad day when my life needed a little more nourishment, but I actually saw this product on Zoe’s Youtube channel sometime last year. At first I was a little taken aback by the almost soapy scent, but I’ve grown to seriously love this product. It’s super nourishing and thick and feels so luxurious to apply! It also has some serious staying power and protects your lips from wind and other external drying factors. I’m going to have to buy myself the pink version as well, because I am well and truly addicted to this product.

Lemon, Ginger and Manuka Honey by Pukka Tea

My last favourite right now is the Lemon, Ginger & Manuka Honey tea by Pukka Herbs. It’s sweet and spicy and an absolute joy to drink. I find it’s perfect for this time of year as it’s full of vitamin C, it’s completely organic, and the ginger is super warming on cold and windy afternoons – Ayurveda approved! I mainly drink this during the hours between lunch and dinner, but it’s also great before bed if you’re sick with the flu.

And those are all of my favourites right now! Let me know what you’ve been loving lately, or if you’re also a fan of anything mentioned in this post!
