Skincare That Exceeds Expectations: Origins Clear Improvement Mask
When it comes to skincare, I’m always on the hunt for OG products. You know, the ones that are kind of gnarly but also work really, really well?
Over the years I’ve used a bunch of products that seem great from the words on their bottle, but really, are just a bit of a waste of time when it comes to how they effect my skin.
Like, I’m not here for time wasting products, guys.
About six months ago I was mid hormonal breakout and on the lookout for a face mask that was really going to clean out my skin. I wanted my pores empty, and all active spots to be banished forever. I also wanted something that would bring older blemishes to the surface so I could extract them and forget they ever existed.
I stopped into Mecca, and picked up the Origins Clear Improvement Mask. I bought a sample size at first, but then went back and purchased a full sized bottle. It’s that good.
While it doesn’t rid your skin of all breakouts, I do believe the Origins Clear Improvement Mask does everything else you would want a clay mask to do, and more:
- it cleans out blocked pores
- it cleans and calms active breakouts
- it pulls deep blemishes to the surface of your skin sooner
- it smooths the texture of your skin
- it leaves you with a glowing complexion
It’s honestly my best friend during that time of the month.
I’ve seen a few negative reviews of this product online, and I think they’re mostly due to incorrect use.
Please be aware, this mask only works if you open your pores before applying it.
I like to jump in the shower, turn the water up reaaaal hot, and steam my pores out. Then, right before getting out of the shower, I get a washcloth and run it under the hot tap, squeeze out the excess water, and rub it over my face to ensure the pores are really open.
Then, I apply a thick layer of the mask. A thin layer won’t do it justice.
If you’ve got sensitive skin (like me) I’d recommend removing it as soon as it dries, because if I leave it on any longer my skin tends to turn a bit pink. Simply take the mask off with a warm washcloth, and then apply the rest of your skincare. I normally double up on moisturiser and then wake up with plump af skin.
